James Hwang

CEO, 1Path

James Hwang is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in the fields of executive management and private equity with emphasis in regulated industries utilizing SaaS and technology services that require business redesign or business transformation. James’ experience includes mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, financial restructuring, compliance, cybersecurity, product development, sales and channel development and engineering delivery workflow design. James has a strong understanding of Financial, Retail, MDI and Healthcare markets.

Current & Past Work

James is the CEO of 1Path, a nationwide Managed IT and Security Services Provider. The company operates in 29 markets across a breadth of service offerings providing regulated and information technology solutions to scaling medium-sized enterprises. Prior to 1Path, James was the CEO of Cal Net Technology Group, an IT managed services company based in Los Angeles, California which successfully transacted to Abry Partners. At acquisition, Cal Net was ranked #37 in the MSP501 list of the Top 500 Global Managed Services Providers. Cal Net Technology Group, under James’ tenure also achieved the Elite Global 150 MSP status by MSP Mentor, the Best IT Service Provider Award as awarded by the CIO Survey and Best Places to Work.

James’ other appointments include the Vice President of the Central US Region at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise where he managed several hundred employees and approximately $400M in annual revenues for their Server, Storage, Networking business units. James had progressively increasing roles at both EMC and AT&T prior to Hewlett-Packard Enterprise.

Miscellaneous

In addition to his executive roles, James serves as a Board Observer for Boathouse Capital, a technology services focused, middle market, private equity group. James also serves as a Member of the Board of Directors for Cincinnati based CNG Holdings. CNG is focused on enabling and transforming the next generation of fintech solutions. Prior to these board appointments, James served on the Board of Directors at Hope Bancorp (NASDAQ: HOPE), the largest, US based, Korean-American, publicly traded bank. James chaired the Technology and Strategy Committees and participated on the Risk and Governance Committees during his tenure. Lastly, James worked with the the Samsung Electronics Technology Advisory Board for their Global B2B Mobile and Display Solutions Divisions.

Education & Certifications

James obtained his BS in Operations Research and Economics from the US Military Academy – West Point. He received his MBA from Dallas Baptist University.
