In the rapidly evolving landscape of Managed Service Providers (MSPs), the prospect of partnering with or being acquired by Private Equity (PE) firms can be both exciting and daunting. This session, “Life with PE: Good, Bad, or Ugly,” is designed to provide MSPs with a comprehensive overview of what to expect when navigating the world of Private Equity.

Join us as we delve into the multifaceted impacts of PE investment and acquisition on MSP operations, growth, and culture. We’ll explore the pros, including access to capital for expansion, strategic guidance, and enhanced market opportunities. Learn how PE can provide the financial backing and expertise needed to accelerate growth and achieve long-term objectives.

On the flip side, we’ll also address the cons—from potential shifts in company culture and increased performance pressure to the complexities of navigating new governance structures and aligning with PE expectations. Understand the challenges of maintaining autonomy, managing stakeholder relationships, and balancing short-term pressures with long-term vision.

Jake Spanberger

CEO, Entech

Jake Spanberger is the CEO of Entech, a Florida-based Managed Service Provider with offices in Bradenton, Fort Myers and Naples, FL. After graduating from the University of Florida, Jake partnered with his stepfather to grow a computer business out of the spare bedrooms of his grandmother’s house. Today Entech employs close to 100 people. In addition to building a successful MSP by growing it the old-fashioned way (referrals and community reputation), Jake has experience completing several types of transactions to grow Entech. These include acquiring other companies, buying out his stepfather, and merging with a large local competitor. Entech also received a platform investment from private equity firm, Prospect Partners, who is backing Jake’s vision of acquiring and uniting with other values-focused, community-minded MSPs throughout the state of Florida. Jake was born and raised in the metro-Detroit area of Michigan, and resides in Ft. Myers, FL with his wife, Beth, daughters, Stella and CeCe, and dog, Buster.
